An update to an earlier post – How to find “anything” (but data) in Business Central – Sharing The Righter Way Cynthiapriebe.com
In reading a Yammer post by Søren Alexandersen PRINCIPAL PROGRAM MANAGER with Microsoft, I was reminded that what is here today may be gone tomorrow. Well, maybe not that dramatic but enough that I need to provide an update on a recent blog post.
Beginning with 2023 Release Wave 2 Major Release, AppSource search results will no longer be included when searching using Tell me../System Search/Alt+Q.
It is thought that users of this search are not consumers of or decision-makers about apps available for Business Central. Search results will be more focused work tasks.
Found later in the Yammer post comments, Søren suggests that they “may introduce a link somewhere else to “Addons for Business Central” but not yet decided…We are currently discussing if we should add a link in the settings menu, that opens a new tab on AppSource, filtered to BC apps.”
Even though a decision has not been made as to where managers and IT Admins will be able to search for apps using a context sensitive search, it was made clear that their data has indicated users are not clicking through links to AppSource from the Tell me… search results.
