Business Central Report Layout original conversion did not convert email body layouts
When we moved from Custom Report Layouts to Report Layouts in Business Central, the original migration process left something behind. If you have Custom Report Layouts for email body, many of my customers do, these reports were not migrated. I shared this issue in this post. Check it out from some background if you are interested.
If it’s not too late
If you haven’t already recreated your custom email body in Report Layouts and you would still like to get them migrated over, you are in luck.
I don’t know when it was added, but in my current Version: US Business Central 24.1 (Platform 24.0.20815.0 + Application 24.1.18927.19282), I have a new action in Custom Report Layouts that should make you very happy.
Migrate to System Layouts
To get a copy of a Custom Report Layout to the new Report Layouts, find the layout in the Custom Report Layout list, then select the Migrate to System Layouts action. This action very quickly adds a copy of this report to the Report Layout list. From here, you can select the email body in Document Layouts as needed.
The power of community
This action can be applied to any custom report layout. I found out about this action through a community member’s post and made a note to myself to share it with you. I read a lot of documentation on what’s coming, but I don’t have time to read it all, and I know I didn’t read about this new action.
Thank goodness for community!
