Problem:
You have spent time creating and assigning Item Attributes to your items. Your intent is to make it easier for purchasing and sales to find the correct item based on filtering using these attributes. For example, I want to find all items that are blue chairs with 22-inch width made of leather. I can setup and define attributes for:
- Color
- Furniture Type
- Width
- Material Description
After defining these attributes and assigning them to my items, I try to filter my item list using them and find that I cannot. Attributes are not available for selection in the Filter Pane.
Solution:
It turns out, Attributes have their very own Action group in the list menu. From this group, I can select to see the attributes assigned to the item I have selected in the list, filter the entire list by specific attributes and clear the filters I have defined when they are no longer needed.
Using Filter by Attributes, I can search based on exact values, contains or conditions. This is dependent on the type of values defined when setting up the attributes. Once you filter the list page by Attributes, they remain until you clear them. This can found at the same level in the actions as the original filter request.
So there you have it. Filtering your item list page by the attributes of your items. Let me know if you would like to see a blog post about using Attributes in Business Central. I would be happy to oblige. Always looking for what you want to learn The Righter Way to do in Busines
